November already!

Oh my goodness, I haven’t posted on my blog this month and am feeling like the time is just flying by.

Heres whats been happening in my world lately….

I have been creating beautiful journals and getting ready to host a stall at the Artisan Markets on November 28th at A Place To Create- my local scrapbook supplies shop that I love in Arana Hills Brisbane. It is a Sunday from 10am-3pm and will have some awesome creative people there selling their goods.
Some of my caravan prints/postcards/cards / magnets will be available on the day and I will take orders for anything I don’t have with me.
I’ve made some gorgeous handcrafted scrapbook or journal embellishments.
I love using these paperclips in my journals to add an extra pop of colour.
I have some Pre-made scrapbook pages for those of you wanting to get albums ready in a whizz! Just add your photos and journalling!
I have some Limited Edition scrapbook kits with lovely handmade elements included.
These are hand dyed doilies and I have some beautiful colour combos for you to choose from. These can be used in scrapbooking, card making or journalling or even just to decorate a package. The creating continues and I look forward to seeing you there.

New art supplies

I had a recent birthday and bought myself some new art supplies…even though I have been resisting the temptation over the past few months…I treated myself.

My absolute favourite new thing is Jane Davenport Layer Cake Paints. I first purchased the neon set and loved it so much I then got the Sushi Roll set and love them too. I don’t know which I like the most. Just know that these are the most beautiful creamy watercolour/gouache paints I have tried. This is my desk , and most of these paintings are actually done with inks and other watercolours, but the Layer Cake Paints are the ones in the long palette at the top of the image.

Some pattern making.
Love pink and red together!
Small clusters make beautiful patterns.
Why not some mirrors with neon pink background!
Some doodles and lots of colours.
This is the Sushi Roll Layer Cake Paints, so lovely.

Get your paints out and make some marks, even if its a 10 minute session.

The caravan love continues….

If you enjoy something, you tend to repeat the action….

I’ve used several mediums on these post card sized artworks. I start with some shimmer spray and then go in with Dylusions inks, watercolours and gelato crayons. I draw with fine liner pens in black and then add highlights with Jane Davenport neon layer cake paints and powder pigments. Sometimes I add Posca pen marks and stamping in black.
If you haven’t tried Jane Davenports art supplies, you definitely need to, they are awesome.
Posca pens are lovely to use also and they come in a big variety of colours and size. I love the thinner ones and mostly use black and white…and pink!
Stamping in my art is huge and I use a Versafine Clair black stamp pad, its crisp and lovely.
I often use old work that I’ve made. I try new paint techniques on 12 x12 watercolour card to use for my scrapbooking page and often they don’t turn out like I had planned so I cut these up and use them to create new art. Sometimes theres marks in the background that I incorporate into the new art. This one had large petals which I’ve made into trees in the new art. I could sit here all day and create these little treasures, its very addictive and each one is different and unique.
Get out your art supplies-ANYTHING, even paper and glue and create collage, painty backdrops, start small, it feels less intimidating and takes a shorter amount of time. It’s very therapeutic and satisfying all at once. Have a great Sunday!

Uniquely Creative has a new collection for September -Merry & Magical

Some Christmas vibes here for sure but also some gorgeous plains if you don’t want to do Christmas just yet.
Check out this gorgeous Joy word die! How beautiful is that!!!!
The Nordic Star die is so useful for some extra texture in the background.
Again the Nordic Star die used with rose gold foil card.
Some lovely flowers in this kit to add to your cards.
Oh and the Nordic Star die yet again heeheeee.
Sometimes more is more folks and I like to use everything up in my kit!
Nordic star die used with glitter card is a winner again!
Something a little different with some traditional colours for Christmas. Yay, Christmas cards done!

Drive & Fly – August Collection for Uniquely Creative

This is a great collection for boy layouts but of course I like to step outside of the box and use it for girls as well.
Theres so much in this kit and it was a lot of fun with lots of papers and textured pieces to use. I love the glassine, corrugated cardboard, burlap and cork.
Ive used the LONGHAND mark making stamp on patterned paper for this layout. LOVE IT.
Luscious layers of goodness right here!
The honeycomb die is outstanding! Such a great die for texture on any layout. This is not in the kit but Ive used it here because its so awesome. Again theres loads of layers that all just work together so well.

Tiny Tools are sold out at the moment but Im sure they will get more in. They are the cutest and look great on a layout. I used my hot glue gun to fix the heavier objects onto my layout.

Happy creating whatever you may be doing.

Mixed Media Play

I have been playing with all sorts of different things in my stash lately. I don’t like to throw things away and Im always looking for a re-purpose for items. Anything from small scraps of paper to beads, clothing tags, lots of things that would otherwise be thrown away. I have lots of offcuts from projects so tag making is always a fun thing to do.

I like watercolour but I also like acrylic, pastels and any pens, gelato crayons add extra oomph and I have a couple of Posca pens that are awesome for mark making. Stencils and oxide ink, and stamping with black ink, so many lovely things to do. Heres some of this weeks pieces.

Some elements are hand drawn others stencilled or stamped, but the layers look lovely. I just have to wait for each layer to dry and thats hard as Im pretty impatient. I find that if I have a few projects on the go at the same time, theres always something to be working on.

This little caravan is one of my favourites, its cute and bright and has lots of character. I have used part of a napkin with mat medium, for some extra texture. Happy weekend, do something creative today.

Mini Journal for my sister

It’s my sisters birthday in July and I like to send her something, but often its just a generic present. This year I was thinking ahead (unusually …lol) and made her a small journal. I posted it off with a few other little treats and it got to her just before her birthday, which is also unusual for me, I have good intentions but always get sidetracked.

I used some cute wrapping paper from Kiki K for the cover of the journal. Some trim Ive had in my stash for years that matched perfectly. The Washington tape was from a cute paper shop in Brisbane-Newfarm- THE PAPER EMPIRE.
I added loads of tabs made from patterned paper and fabric scraps. My sister is a sewer, and has the best stash of fabric ! I knew she would like lots of fabric bits added. And it added some extra texture.
Theres three signatures in this journal, some have my own designs on the patterned paper, some are scraps of past projects with watercolour and texture paste and some are ledger paper. I also machine stitched some details.
Each signature is hand stitched into the cover with hand waxed thread.
Its lovely and chunky, and pretty to look at from the side too.
Some of the fabric scraps I have been hoarding for years. They look so beautiful on here. The blue and pink pieces sent from America over a decade ago.
I used a rose gold bulldog clip to close it, adding a scrap of beautiful green silk.
You can see the hand binding on the spine, which I still need more practice with.
Creating this was fun and Im off to make another now.

Fresh Folk- Uniquely Creative

Happy July! Its well and truly Winter now and its been rainy and cold lately, great scrapbooking weather. With the lockdowns and the cold weather, and the school holidays, I have been doing loads of scrapbooking. Heres some cards I created for the new July release by Uniquely Creative. This one is called Fresh Folk and its really pretty.
I really love the blues and greens and the mixture of vellum and card creative cuts is awesome.
The watercolour sheet is gorgeous even without colour!
