Panda-monium

I had a request from a friend for a birthday card for her son with a panda on it. I found this “panda chain” from Erin Doran in Silhouette Studio. I cut a few out and had a lot of fun sticking them together. I needed some bamboo for them to hang in and found some old paint chip cards that I sliced up and used as bamboo. Handpainted some card aqua and die cut some sprigs of leaves using Kaisercrafts Mini Foliage decorative die. Some twine, a few drops of Heidi Swapp Colorshine and a little sentiment. Hand drawn black ticking around the edge of the white card stock and I was done.

I had cut out a few of the panda chains, but the first ones I cut were too big to fit the whole chain of 3 on a card. I cut one off to make the next card. Kaisercrafts Hanami Garden , Mokuren paper. Some hand painted watercolour paper using Kuretaki Gansai Tambi watercolours and the Hello stamp from Kaisercrafts Wilflowers collection. (this is my fav stamp at the moment, I use it on EVERYTHING!) Red ribbon to finish. I love the contrast on this one.

memory file

Hi there, thanks for visiting my blog. I have an old project to share today. This is a memory file I made for my mum last year. I had loads of photos to send her and made this file to give her for christmas. I fitted a lot of photos.

Oops, dodgy photography! I just hand wrote about each photos, and added a few embellishments I had.

I used Heidi Swapp Memory Files stuck together and added lots of paper scraps and card stock for extra pages. I love the idea and would like to make another one like this. They make a great present for family.

Petal Lane Cards

Ok so I have a little extra time on my hands as I had unexpected surgery recently and have a few weeks off work to recover, so I’m enjoying crafting, a bit of tv and a lot of extra napping.

Photo 25-5-17, 9 46 10 am

So I’m back again tonight with some cards I whipped up last night using the leftover scraps from the Golden Girl Layout. I had everything out in front of me on my desk and lots of bits and pieces I didn’t use, so I put together 3 quick cards, as I like to have a few in my stash for whatever occasion may arise.

I cut the little vespa out using my Silhouette Cameo and a Lori Whitlock cut file, its very sweet. I just adore the bright yellow of this range.

I used some gold leaf to step up the metallic look.

The pink texture paste is used here with a template from Kaisercraft, it’s my favourite thing at the moment.

Photo 24-5-17, 1 48 32 pm

The pink metallic textured piece was cut from a piece of metallic pink card using a Kaisercraft Decorative Die called Stained Glass.

Photo 24-5-17, 1 48 14 pm

The title was cut on my Silhouette Cameo. Gauze from my medicine cabinet sprayed with Gold Heidi Swapp Colorshine spray.

my craft area

Photo 2-4-17, 7 12 31 pm

After a big move around over the christmas holidays I have ended up with my craft space in the dining room. I had previously been in my garage which I had converted into a beautiful craft room, floor coverings, air-conditioning and great bright lighting, loads of room for all things crafty, sewy and painty! I had been in this space since buying this house quite a few years back and I was very happy…enter partners son that needs a place to stay for a few months! I temporarily moved out and downsized. This was great as I really had a good clean out and donated a lot of stuff to the school preppies and friends. Few months later and partners son moves out….enter 12 year old who shares room with 9 year old ……13 year old has room of her own…since FOREVER! So instead of getting my craft room back, we converted it into another bedroom and the house became peaceful again!

After some minor changes and a new chair and another purge of craft stuff, I have managed to love my new area, its certainly in the heart of the house, the kitchen, tv, computer are all out here with me. It has taken a little adjusting to when I can craft, as Im not a tv watching crafter, but I have come to enjoy being out here with everything thats going on.Photo 2-4-17, 10 57 21 am

The big white cabinet holds most of my craft things but I also have Ikea Alex drawers next to my table and containers on top of both cabinets. You can just see the big table on the left (which is our dinner table) but I use it for all my stuff and we ofter eat at the kitchen counter if Im in the middle of some craft.

Since these photos were taken, I have changed the decor a little….not so many bowls and plants on my work bench, also I have an ikea raskog trolley that holds all my necessities that can be pulled into place. I really love looking at other crafters work places, so I hope you enjoyed mine.

Coptic Stitching

Photo 7-5-17, 6 36 19 pmPhoto 7-5-17, 9 29 33 pmPhoto 7-5-17, 9 31 28 pm

Ok so I decided to have a go at coptic binding. This is a very old method of bookbinding , employed by the Christian Egyptians, the Copts back in the 2nd centuryAD!

I found a great tutorial and just used some old supplies first go. I struggled a bit with getting the stitching tight so the book isn’t “sloppy” but I was quite surprised with the end result. I started to decorate the cover and have decided to use it as a little album to fill with photos and stories, I want to send it to my Mum for her birthday, it will be a nice handmade present. I will post some photos of the inside pages when I finish.

new card

Photo 9-5-17, 9 07 38 pm (1)

I have been using Kaisercraft card bases as they are a great size and come with envelopes and are reasonably priced. I like the ivory colour and it is nice and thick too.
Some American Craft papers, hand dyed doily and a koala watercolour from Wilna Furstenbergs Bear collection. I purchased Wilnas mini kit of bears and love it. It comes with so many different options and you can even cut them out on your Silhouette Cameo. Also included is a desk saver for your PC, I love it. It is not expensive and you get it immediately as its an instant download. She has a lot of other beautiful kits too.

The stamp is from Dear Lizzy. Pink binding I have used for the bow is from my sisters garage sale stash from Victoria. Kaisercraft leaves and pink rose. the epoxy spots and gold sequin are from Crate Paper.

Beautiful Margate

IMG_0255

I love this photo I snapped in December 2016 when I was walking back to the beach from ordering fish and chips one evening……the clouds and sun were just all in the right place.

Photo 6-5-17, 8 06 36 am

I have used a bunch of different supplies on this layout, some old some new. I think its always great to use old stash! Some texture paste some Heidi Swapp Colorshine spray, Kaisercraft and an October Afternoon button on there. Heres some close ups.

Photo 6-5-17, 8 06 44 amPhoto 6-5-17, 8 06 53 am

I had a fair bit of journalling, I was thinking I may have a lift up tab to hide the journalling but I saw those lines and went for it.

more texture paste…

Photo 4-5-17, 7 02 30 am

I used a Kaisercraft template and texture paste tinted with Heidi Swapp Colorshine to do the doily pattern in the top left corner. Cut a big leaf using my Silhouette Cameo and the small leaves were cut on my big shot die machine using the Kaisercraft die. Some Crate paper, American Crafts Amy Tangerine and Kaisercraft papers and letters. Pink Paisley 6×6 papers.

Photo 4-5-17, 7 02 36 amPhoto 4-5-17, 7 02 58 amPhoto 4-5-17, 7 03 11 am

The white tissue with black text is actually Kaisercraft die release paper that comes on a roll to use with your dies. Its really smooth and shiny and nothing sticks to it, I had to use 450 Helmars glue to make it secure, but its a lovely layer with these papers. Washi tape is Kaisercraft.

Photo 4-5-17, 7 03 20 am

The bird was fussy cut from some Maggie Holmes Crate Paper and the resin flower from DIYI from Officeworks.  Epoxy dots are a great extra touch to projects lately and I think these ones are really pretty.

a new layout with texture paste

IMG_1345

I love this photo I took of Remy in the pool. I decided to have a go at using texture paste. I thought I might colour the texture paste with Heidi Swapp Colourshine rose. It was a lovely pale pink and I got excited. I used a new template I have had for a while but never used. Its pale green. As I got into the spreading of the paste the colour started to change to a blue green, and the pink was gone. I think the template colour washed off into the pink, hence the colour change toward the bottom of the layout. I was annoyed at first but when I put the papers and photo on, it seemed to go together well with the tint. I quite like it actually!

Close up of the paste….and that gorgeous HELLO stamp from Kaisercraft.

IMG_1338

In the end, I was really happy with the texture paste and have purchased another template. I think it adds a lovely softness to the layout and a whole different dimension. I just want to run my fingers over the texture. I will share my new layout with more texture paste soon. Thanks for looking at my blog. 🙂
