2017/2018 Kaisercraft Design Team Application

Hi there, I’m very excited to be sharing this post today. I have been lucky enough to go through to the 2nd round in the Kaisercraft Design Team Application process.

I was so stunned when I received an email from Kaisercraft, and really excited that they were sending me a package of goodness to make a project with for the 2nd round.

We were given the yet to be released “Lilac Whisper” collection. It’s a gorgeous collection with florals in lilac and spearmint tones. I spread it out on my big table and enjoyed just looking at all the lovely papers. I wanted to stay true to my style and make a layout, although I had so many ideas in my head of things I could make, I went with what I love best and that is to create layouts.

After much deliberation, I decided to make a couple of layouts and choose the best one for my entry. I wanted to use everything! I made 4 layouts and a card. Now the task to choose the ONE…

This is my one project

My inspiration was seeing only snippets of the patterned papers left after making 3 other layouts and immediately I knew inchies would showcase this beautiful collection of papers. I love making inchies and this project was seriously fun to do. I also wanted to use as much of the pretty product I could. I used texture paste with the mini designer template and some kaiser mist on some of the patterned paper to incorporate into my layout and added some stamped detail on a few random inchies. The dark background seemed to make the colours pop and I love how this turned out.

I started by punching out a whole bunch of squares with my 1 inch paper punch. Then I also punched out the same amount of squares of white cardstock. 

I used texture paste coloured with Kaiser mist and the cute Mini designer template “blossom” on some of the patterned paper and set aside to dry. I like how the texture paste turned out ombre as I didn’t mix the mist in thoroughly.

Then I set the inchies out around my photo to get the order looking varied.

I chose some random inchies to stamp with black ink to add extra interest.

Using a glue stick, I adhered the patterned paper inchies to the white cardstock inchies and set aside to dry. I find this gives the inchies some extra dimension and height.

Keeping them in the same formation working from the bottom to the top. I added foam squares to each inchie.

I then inked each one with black ink and a sponge to make them stand out even more.

Starting at the bottom with my ruler, I lined up the first row of inchies and stuck them down. The following rows I just carried on using the first row as a guide.

To finish off I used my machine to sew around the edge of the layout.

and finally a few cut out scallops, rhinestones and butterflies. Done!
