I have been playing with all sorts of different things in my stash lately. I don’t like to throw things away and Im always looking for a re-purpose for items. Anything from small scraps of paper to beads, clothing tags, lots of things that would otherwise be thrown away. I have lots of offcuts from projects so tag making is always a fun thing to do.
I like watercolour but I also like acrylic, pastels and any pens, gelato crayons add extra oomph and I have a couple of Posca pens that are awesome for mark making. Stencils and oxide ink, and stamping with black ink, so many lovely things to do. Heres some of this weeks pieces.
Some elements are hand drawn others stencilled or stamped, but the layers look lovely. I just have to wait for each layer to dry and thats hard as Im pretty impatient. I find that if I have a few projects on the go at the same time, theres always something to be working on.
This little caravan is one of my favourites, its cute and bright and has lots of character. I have used part of a napkin with mat medium, for some extra texture. Happy weekend, do something creative today.
It’s my sisters birthday in July and I like to send her something, but often its just a generic present. This year I was thinking ahead (unusually …lol) and made her a small journal. I posted it off with a few other little treats and it got to her just before her birthday, which is also unusual for me, I have good intentions but always get sidetracked.
I used some cute wrapping paper from Kiki K for the cover of the journal. Some trim Ive had in my stash for years that matched perfectly. The Washington tape was from a cute paper shop in Brisbane-Newfarm- THE PAPER EMPIRE.I added loads of tabs made from patterned paper and fabric scraps. My sister is a sewer, and has the best stash of fabric ! I knew she would like lots of fabric bits added. And it added some extra texture.Theres three signatures in this journal, some have my own designs on the patterned paper, some are scraps of past projects with watercolour and texture paste and some are ledger paper. I also machine stitched some details. Each signature is hand stitched into the cover with hand waxed thread. Its lovely and chunky, and pretty to look at from the side too. Some of the fabric scraps I have been hoarding for years. They look so beautiful on here. The blue and pink pieces sent from America over a decade ago. I used a rose gold bulldog clip to close it, adding a scrap of beautiful green silk. You can see the hand binding on the spine, which I still need more practice with. Creating this was fun and Im off to make another now.
Happy July! Its well and truly Winter now and its been rainy and cold lately, great scrapbooking weather. With the lockdowns and the cold weather, and the school holidays, I have been doing loads of scrapbooking. Heres some cards I created for the new July release by Uniquely Creative. This one is called Fresh Folk and its really pretty.I really love the blues and greens and the mixture of vellum and card creative cuts is awesome. The watercolour sheet is gorgeous even without colour!
